Hair Restoration Q&A

What is hair restoration?

Non-surgical hair restoration stimulates new hair growth. Nearly 50% of men and 25% of women experience hair loss before age 50. Thinning hair can affect your self-image and make you feel older than you are. While hair loss is primarily cosmetic, feeling like you don’t have control of your body can damage your mental health.

Hair restoration treatments can add volume and fullness to your hair for a more youthful appearance without surgery or downtime.

Who benefits from hair restoration?

Many people experiencing hair loss can benefit from restoration treatments. Those with male-pattern baldness (receding hairline) and female-pattern baldness (thinning around the top of the head) are most likely to see improvements from hair restoration.

Individuals experiencing hair loss from an underlying medical condition or medication side effects should consult their primary care provider before trying injectable treatments.

What is my treatment option for hair restoration?

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a concentrate created from your blood rich in growth factors — proteins that accelerate healing and help create new cells. During PRP therapy, Sheila draws your blood and places it in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood rapidly to isolate the concentrated PRP. Finally, Sheila injects the PRP into your scalp to promote hair growth.

After a comprehensive evaluation, Sheila can determine whether PRP is right for you.

What can I expect from hair restoration?

Hair restoration is a quick process that requires no downtime. Once Sheila runs your blood through a centrifuge and collects your PRP, she injects the solution into your scalp. You can resume your normal activities right away.

Most clients need at least three treatments, spaced one month apart, to see visible results from hair restoration. After six months, you return to Bloom Health NP for a check-in visit to determine whether you might benefit from additional treatments.
